Game Date: May 10, 2010

Score:
RAILROADERS: 10
MIDDLETOWN HIGH: 21

Monday night it almost seemed to good to be true. The BHS Railroaders showed up to face off against cross county rival, Middletown, and they showed up in a big way. In the 1st quarter, Middletown didn't win a face off and Brunswick jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first stanza. It was in the second quarter that it seemed like the 'Roaders had awoken a sleeping giant as the Knights got their offense rolling as they took an 8-6 lead into halftime. With Brunswick still in the game, the 2nd half was a continuation of the 2nd quarter. Brunswick squandered opportunities by throwing passes away, failing to clear the ball, and not finishing good offensive looks. The defense failed to control the Middletown attack throughout the second half and when all was said and done, the Knights won the game with a final score of Middletown 21, Brunswick 10.

BHS Scorers @ Middletown:

Coach Hartman's Thoughts on the Middletown Game:

"We went into this game knowing that it had absolutely zero bearing on our playoff standing, but it was still a game that we wanted to win. The last time we played Middletown it was a blood bath from the first whistle. We looked intimidated and afraid to be on the field with Middletown. However, even though the score is different, last night's game was alot closer. Our players weren't afraid or timid on the field but came to win. We had the perfect start, but just couldn't hold onto our lead. There are some things that we as players and coaches know we need to address, and fortunately we have a full week to get those straightened out before our first playoff game. Even with a loss, playing a team like Middletown only makes you more game ready for the games that really count, and that is the playoffs. Nothing else matters at this point."
