The undefeated season that Brunswick thought was attainable was tarnished Saturday at the Frederick City Tournament, but not after a very good showing by the Railroaders Varsity Lacrosse Team.  The games started when BHS took on the Frederick Cadets at 9am in the opening round of the Tournament.  The game was a back and forth battle, and had Brunswick facing its first deficit at halftime this season.  At half Frederick held the lead 4-3, but in the 2nd half, the Railroaders woke up and made the necessary plays to defeat Frederick by the final score of 8-5.

Goal Scorers for the BHS vs Frederick Game:
Senior Attackman - Tate Rolland - 3 Goals / 2 Assists
Senior Attackman - Dylan Hunt - 2 Goals / 2 Assists
Senior Midfielder - Michael Millett - 2 Goal
Sophomore Midfielder - Kyle Hooper - 1 Goal / 1 Assist
Senior Midfielder - Kyle Moler - 1 Assist
Senior Attackman - Thomas Stuckey - 2 Assists

Junior Goaltender - Anthony Malik - 9 Saves / 5 Goals Allowed

After the Frederick victory, Brunswick was forced to wait and see who would win the game between Gov. Thomas Johnson or St. Maria Goretti HS.  After TJ came out victorious, it was going to be a rematch of the trouncing TJ put on Brunswick 2 years ago winning the city cup 24-6.  However, this game wouldn't be a blowout, but a defensive battle.  Brunswick continued its sloppy play well into the championship game, and made too many costly mistakes.  However, their goalie and defense bailed them out time and time again.  Brunswick took a 2-1 lead into halftime and had hopes of extending that lead in the 2nd half.  They did just that scoring the first goal of the second half making the score 3-1.  However, TJ would score 2 goals in a :30 time period and regain all momentum that was created by Brunswick with their 3rd goal.  The game went back and forth, but a TJ goal in the 4th with about 3:00 to play was the final tally of the game.  The loss was the first on Brunswick's record (4-1).

Goal Scorers for BHS vs TJ:
Senior Attackman - Tate Rolland - 1 Goal / 1 Assist
Senior Attackman - Thomas Stuckey - 1 Goal
Senior Midfielder - Michael Millett - 1 Goal
Sophomore Midfielder - Kyle Hooper - 1 Goal
Senior Attackman - Dylan Hunt - 1 Assist

Junior Goaltender - Anthony Malik - 12 Save / 5 Goals Allowed

Coach Hartman's Thoughts on the Frederick City Tournament:
"I've told the boys all week that our goal was to finish this week 5-0 and bring home some hardware, and we were one play away from that happening.  Unfortunately, this loss really stings.  To watch TJ celebrate after that game was something that will stick with this team for a long time, but I think it will fuel this team.  It will make them mentally stronger, as well as better prepared in the future.  We are lucky this game didn't end our season, and it didn't do that.  We still have ALOT of lacrosse left to play.  We need to clean up alot of aspects of our play, but in the long run this team will be better for playing in this tournament and this championship game.  Our goals remain the same, and we will see how we respond to this loss next Thursday...I think we will be just fine."
